This Privacy Policy document was last updated on May 20, 2018

This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which we collect, use, maintain and disclose information collected from visitors of the Dead Before Mourning website (“Site”). This privacy policy applies to the Site and all products and services offered by Dead Before Mourning. This policy may be updated from time to time but the latest version is published on this page.

Why we gather data

We may gather and use certain information about individuals in order to enable certain functions on this website and to provide products and services, such as fulfilling orders from our online store and delivering email newsletter updates. We also collect information to better understand how visitors use this website and to present timely, relevant information to them. We are a ‘data controller’ for the information you provide to us.

What data we gather – ‘Personal Information’

We may collect personal identification information from you in a variety of ways, such as when you visit or register on the Site, place an order, fill out a form, respond to a survey, or request to join our email list.

You may be asked for, as appropriate: your name, email address, mailing address, billing address, shipping address and phone number. We may also ask for: demographic information such as preferences and interests you may have; information pertaining to responses for promotions, offers, feedback and surveys; information specific to an order (for example, your required t-shirt size); or information relevant to any other enquiries or request you may have.

It should be noted that we do NOT collect credit card or other financial payment information on this site; all payment processing is handled via our third-party providers and at NO TIME do we have this information.

We will collect personal identification information from you only if you voluntarily submit such information to us. You may, however, visit our Site anonymously although some elements of the Site, such as placing orders via our online store or signing up for our newsletter, may then be unavailable to you. You can always refuse to supply personally identification information, except that it may prevent you from engaging in certain Site related activities.

Non-personal identification information

We may collect non-personal identification information about you whenever you interact with our Site. Non-personal identification information may include the browser name, IP address, time-zone, the type of computer and other technical information about your means of connection to our Site, such as the operating system and the Internet service providers utilised and other similar information. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site.

Web browser cookies

This section gets a little technical, but it needs to be here. Our Site may use “cookies” to enhance the web site experience or to assist in providing certain web site facilities. A cookie is a small file placed on your computer’s hard drive. It enables our website to identify your computer as you view different pages on our website. Cookies allow websites and applications to store your preferences in order to present content, options or functions that are specific to you. For example, cookies are typically required for any account sign-in or ‘login’ process a web site may require. They also enable us to see information like how many people use the website and what pages they tend to visit.

Your web browser places cookies on your hard drive for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information about you. You may choose to set your web browser to refuse cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you do so, note that some parts of the Site may not function properly.

We may use cookies to:

  • Analyse our web traffic using an analytics package. Aggregated usage data helps us improve the website structure, design, content and functions.
  • Identify whether you are signed in to our website. A cookie allows us to check whether you are signed in to the site.
  • Test content on our website. For example, 50% of our users might see one piece of content, the other 50% a different piece of content.
  • Store information about your preferences. The website can then present you with information you will find more relevant and interesting.
  • To recognise when you return to our website. We may show your relevant content, or provide functionality you used previously.

Cookies do not provide us with access to your computer or any information about you, other than that which you choose to share with us. To learn more about cookies and how they are used, visit All About Cookies.
